Summary of 2026-27 club activities
15 October - Our 1st open Colour prints competition of the season was judged by Bogdan Schiteanu. 36 images were entered and during a well balanced critique Bogdan held back 10 images for further consideration before awarding the maximum score of 10 points to the images from Ann Smith ARPS, Elizabeth Bulley, Julian Hall, Ken Lillywhite and Tim Cheshire. Their images are shown below.

1 October - During the club's 10 week summer break a group of several club members got together on five occasions via Zoom and set themselves various challenges to produce images using techniques either in camera and/or by using post processing software. The idea was simply to have fun and not be concerned with producing images solely of competition/exhibition standards.
The subjects chosen for the five challenges included: walls, walks, triptychs, inversions and glass.
- The walls challenge was to produce abstract images of a simple wall.
- The walks challenge included going to any location and taking at least 3 different photos from any angle of view and/or focussing on specific areas of the subject etc.
- The triptychs challenge was to put three related images side by side to form a single image.
- Inversion involved using filters and/or post processing software to invert an image eg colours etc in an interesting way.
- The final challenge was to produce images using glass.
In total 116 photographs were shown during the course of the evening and a small random selection of them, one image from each challenge, are shown below to give some indication of the kind of work produced as it would not be practical to include everything here.

24 September - Our first club meeting after the summer break was an informal event hosted by our club chairman Mike Guy. After welcoming all present, exising and potential new members, Mike spoke about the recent change to the Reg Mullard competition rules and also restated the club's stance on AI which will follow SPA guidelines.
Following Mike's introduction the attention turned to images taken by various members during the summer break and brought along to the meeting for discussion, see images randomly placed on the club's print easels below. The meeting ended with refreshments and time for socialising.
